Who you should really compare your art to…

In this video we are going to look at a baseline, or pre-assessment, drawing from a student inside my program Self-Taught to Self-Confident. I discuss:

  • the purpose of a baseline drawing,
  • how long a baseline drawing should take,
  • how you can use it to improve your art, and
  • how often you should do a drawing assessment to help your growth.

Additionally, I give a review of a baseline assessment to offer some ideas on how to capture values, some of the drawing mistakes we make trying to capture the volume of an object, and more.

Now it’s your turn: have you ever taken time like this to assess your art? What could you do in the next week to help implement a strategy of assessment for your art? Share in the comments below.
